WORKSHOPS
College Application ESSAY Workshops
Fee: $220
Your College Essay is an opportunity to set yourself apart from your peers and it gives the admissions officer insight beyond the numbers. A good essay requires a level of introspection and analysis few students have done to this point. Attend this two-day workshop to learn the characteristics of successful essays, identify your strengths and uniqueness, and write a rough draft.
To assist with your personal essay topic selection, you will be asked to jot down your thoughts in response to some high leverage questions and email them to the instructor a week prior to the first class. Begin work on your rough draft in the first session, finish it outside of class if necessary, and email it to the instructor, who will provide comments in time for the second work session. You will leave the workshop with one or two draft essays. Bring a laptop to the workshop.
Presented by an Independent College Advisor – each section limited to 10 students.
UC Application Workshop
Fee: $80
Complete your UC application without errors and ahead of the last minute rush! Our college advisor will lead you through the application so you correctly interpret questions, complete all sections and take advantage of every opportunity to highlight your strengths. One week prior to the workshop, you will receive a list of information you need to bring with you and a pre-work assignment to facilitate completion of the application. At the end of the day you will be ready for a final “Print/ Preview” at home, or you will leave with a list of items requiring completion.
(The essay will not be addressed in this work session. See our College Application Essay Workshop for essay help). Limited Enrollment!
Common Application Workshop —
Private Colleges and Out-of-State College Applications
Fee: $80
Whether you are applying to one private college or eight, you only complete the Common Application once. However, many schools also require school-specific supplemental questions to be submitted prior to the Common Application. It can get very confusing!
Our College Advisor will help you set up your student account; navigate and complete the Common Application and Letter of Recommendation sections; identify, preview and organize required supplemental applications; establish a tracking system. Time permitting, you can begin working on supplemental applications. One week prior to the workshop, you will receive a list of information you need to bring with you as well as a pre-work assignment. At the end of the workshop you will have completed each section of the application, or know what is left to do!
The Common Application essay and Supplemental essays will not be addressed in this workshop. See our College Application Essay Workshop for essay help. Limited Enrollment!
