RESOURCES FOR LEARNING DISABILITIES

At Ames Seminars we have tried to help frustrated parents look for resources for kids with disabilities - both with standardized testing and success in high school. While the explosion in the past two or three decades in identifying and understanding learning differences has helped many students and parents, the commitment by schools and communities has not been uniform.

Many parents and kids have revealed their frustration in dealing with institutions like public high schools, who are themselves struggling with limited resources. Ultimately, parents and kids often conclude that they have to be responsible for finding support and resources - no one will do it for them. This can be an extremely complex and difficult task; these difficulties compounded by limits in time and money.

Parents and counselors have shared with us the uneven support that is out there in colleges. While many colleges proclaim support, some colleges do it better than others - NOT surprising news.
